A different kind of fast:
Fast from certainty
Embrace mystery and waiting
Church Father John Cassian writes that one of the challenges we face on our faith journeys is the call to let
go of images of God we might hold that limit who God can be for us and how God can shape us. Between
Palm Sunday and Easter, the disciples’ understanding of Jesus expands tremendously. The week begins with
the joyful entry into Jerusalem and ends with the darkness of the tomb. It asks us to linger in the uncertainty
of change and the mystery of waiting for something new.
