Every church has it’s own story and we believe we have a good one to tell!
Founded in 1755, Zion Church of the City of Baltimore is the mother church of Lutheranism for the Baltimore metro region. We are a registered national historic landmark, conveniently located downtown between City Hall and the Baltimore Farmers’ Market & Bazaar.
Our services are both in English and German. We are the oldest church in the nation that has maintained uninterrupted German services for over 265 years. Visit our Services page for more information.
Throughout the year, we welcome visitors from near and abroad who help us celebrate our German roots by hosting our renowned Sour Beef every October, and Christkindlesmarkt shortly after Thanksgiving. Those who enjoy “Gemuetlichkeit” will fall in love with our Brats & Beer event held throughout the Summer in our lovely garden. Visit our Annual Events page for more information.
So you see, because our history dates back to 1755 we do have a story to share from those who came from afar to start a new beginning by being a welcoming home for all by sharing God’s word and blessings.
We welcome you to learn more about Zion, our services, our history, and so much more.
