    Literacy House is located on the grounds of the Zion Lutheran Church in the heart of downtown Baltimore, Maryland. The Zion Literacy Group is an all-volunteer program which provides tutoring to adults who need literacy services. Zion tutors are trained by Director Bonnie Brobst in the tutoring process. Student's experiences are respected and their specific educational and personal goals are always the focus.

    The Zion Literacy Group has operated for over seven years. More than one hundred volunteers have worked as tutors, and over one hundred and fifty students have been assisted in their personal educational goals.

  • Director Bonnie Brobst works as the primary tutor trainer and administers initial interviews and optional testing.
  • Students are matched with tutors for individual instruction.
  • There are "Open Lab Nights" weeknights Tuesday ,Wednesday, and sometimes Thursday evenings from 7-9PM.
  • Computers are available and encouraged for student use. A wide variety of educational and workplace skill building software activities are available.
  • Please call in advance before visiting to be sure that we will be open.
  • Tutors who want to be trained to work with students, and individuals needing services are always welcome.
