WORSHIP SERVICES AT ZION

SUNDAY SCHOOL AT ZION

Zion continues to hold two Lutheran worship services each Sunday, led by our pastor, the Reverend Dr. Holger Roggelin.

It is the oldest church in the nation that has maintained uninterrupted worship services in the German language for 250 years, and Zion is now the only church in Maryland to offer a weekly service in German.

The German service is held at 9:15 a.m.
The English service convenes at 11:15 a.m.

There is also an ecumenical midweek prayer service on Wednesdays at 12:20 p.m., lunchtime food for the soul for the downtown administrative and business communities. Of course, all are invited to attend any of our services.

St. Michaels Day Services

Zion holds fast to a traditional worship setting in the Sunday services, making use of the rich sacramental and liturgical heritage of Lutheranism.

We are one of the few Lutheran churches in Maryland that still uses the SERVICE BOOK AND HYMNAL or "red book" in the English service.

Zion's organist and choirmaster, John Heizer, leads a largely volunteer choir in anthems which complement the weekly services.

Our lovely sanctuary is accented by a uniquely designed wood pulpit and highlighted by 25 exquisite stained glass windows.
