CELEBRATE WITH ZION!
One of Zion's strongest traditions is its hospitality to its members and the community.
Throughout the year, Zion opens its doors and invites in the community to share a meal and some fellowship in its lovely buildings and garden. Zion's garden has a long history as a well-known oasis for downtown workers and has been voted Best of Baltimore's city gardens several times. Among the annual events that have become well known in the Baltimore community are the Mayfest, the Gartenfest and the Sour Beef event. More recently, the Zion Forum of German Culture has started some new traditions with the annual Karneval Ball in February, the Lutherfest in November and the immensely popular Christkindlmarkt on Thanksgiving weekend. |
The Zion Forum events all take place in the gorgeous Adlersaal, built in the Hanseatic style with art nouveau stenciling designed by Julius Hofmann, who was Pastor of Zion at the beginning of the 20th century. This room is one of a kind in Baltimore, is available for rent, and is truly one of the jewels of Zion. Dancing at Karneval Ball in the Adlersaal |
