English as a Second Language

The classes for English As a Second Language are now in their second year. Each Monday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. the Sunday School Room is buzzing with tutors and learners. There are now even teams meeting at other times and in other locations. Learners recommend the program to their friends because they recognize the improvements they are making in their language skills. And, just as important, they have found a family made up of learners and tutors who share joys, sorrows, meals, and trips around the city.

Adult Forum

At 10:15 to 11:05 the Adult Forum will meet in the Sunday School room. Using Paul's letters to the Thessalonians we will discuss how Christians "become the gospel" as we live our lives in the 21st century. We will explore the ways in which we can actually be the body of the Christ in our community. This is a real challenge that has been confronting followers of Christ for the last two thousand years. Everyone is welcome. Light refreshments will be served.

A new season of catechism classes has begun. Bring a bag lunch or eat before you come, and join us from 12:30 until 2:00 PM on second and fourth Sundays of the month. All youth in 7th grade and above are invited and encouraged to join us, including those who have already been confirmed. The pastors will teach this class.

Community Faith Connections (all ages welcome)

Community Faith Connections is a time for all generations to explore our faith together through Bible stories, conversations, hands-on activities, and song. Activities include persons 0-99+ and support the participation of all persons in the church year and our life together. The usual meeting place will be the Sunday School Room.

This group will begin meeting the first Sunday of each month. Sunday, March 5, "Learn about Lent," will be our kick-off event.

Tuesday Noon-Day Bible Study Group

Lent is an important season for the people of God. It is a time to reflect on Christ's temptation in the wilderness, his loneliness in Gethsemane, his death on the cross, and our own dependence on God's grace and mercy. The promise of Easter leads us through our own wilderness in this season of confession and repentance. During the next 5 weeks the Tuesday Noon Day Bible Study will concentrate on the connection between faith, worship, and justice as we focus on specific scripture passages. Please join us in the Parlor at noon on Tuesday until 1 pm. Everyone is welcome.

Tuesday Evening Meal and Discussion

Starting March 7, we will meet in the dining room on Tuesday nights. At 6:30pm we will share a light meal. Our discussion will begin at 7:00pm. In this 500th anniversary year of the Reformation, we will take a closer look at Luther's Small Catechism and discover how this book can still inspire our faith today. This group is led by the pastors.

March 7: The Ten Commandments
March 14: The Apostles' Creed
March 21: The Lord's Prayer
March 28: Holy Baptism
