Bishop Noack enlightens us to the state of the current Lutheran Church in Germany

Bishop Axel Noack of the Evangelical Church of the Church Province of Saxony visited Zion Church on March 9, 2003.

The bishop, whose hometown is Magdeburg on the river Elbe, comes to the U.S. as a member of a high-ranking delegation from the council of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD), the federation of 24 Lutheran, Reformed and United territorial churches (synods).

The council delegation will have visited Chicago, Cleveland, New York and Washington, D.C., for talks with ELCA and UCC agencies as well as with policymakers and elected officials. (For more info on the EKD, see  www.ekd.de/english/2169.html  )

The Rev. Dean Bard (Assistant to the Bishop, Delaware/Maryland Synod, ELCA) delivered a paraphrase translation of the bishop's sermon.

The Rev. Dr. John Deckenback, the Conference Minister of the Central Atlantic Conference of the UCC, a partner synod of the Church Province also contributed to the service.
